A-Wimoweh

The safari is nearly as old as Africa itself. First hunted by tribal natives for food, then big game hunters for sport, and finally by poachers for money, these marvelous beasts have been brought to near extinction. This assemblage is to encourage photography where the trophy is captured on film.

The background is preserved leaves of the tropical Elephant Ear plant. The components are vintage and contemporary. It is mounted on gallery wrapped canvas and needs no frame.

“A-Wimoweh” is dedicated to the memory of a Kenyan lion named Cecil who was lured from the safety of his national preserve and killed by an American trophy hunter in 2015.
