Vivian is a 4th generation, award winning basket maker. She was taught by her mother in 1973 and has been weaving since that time. Vivian was honored as a Cherokee National Treasure in Basketry in 1995 by the Cherokee Nation. At that time she was the youngest individual to achieve that honor. She spends fall and winter months harvesting and preparing materials of rivercane, white oak, honeysuckle and buckbrush for weaving into traditional and contemporary baskets. She attends local, state and national art shows and markets where she sells her baskets.
