In Solidarity Wampum Belt

The traditional square pattern woven into this rich purple wampum belt signifies strong ties between three Native communities in the Wampanoag Nation. The term belt is a catch all phrase, historically referring to woven wampum of any length for the purpose of trade, record keeping, ceremony, or to be worn in ones regalia. This one is based upon a much older belt now at the British Museum. While this may be worn as a stand along upper arm cuff, many of my customers get their wampum belts framed as art.
