This type of vessel is called a Seed Jar and it is widely used to store and hold traditional variety of seeds that will be planted every spring term. A Matsaki design is painted with yellow ochre and vegetal hematite brown pigment on stone burnished white kaolin slip. This type of design has the four directional/season division of rain, snow, and sun depictions.
