Matsaki Seed Jar

Description

Polychrome Zuni Seed jar, hand painted with the designs from the "Matsaki period circa 1474-1680+" this period was around the mid 1400's, the production of glazed-decorated, white-slipped pottery declined in the Ashiwi villages and was replaced gradually by the production of a buff colored pottery decorated with matte mineral paint. This particular design has the four direction of where Ashiwi people has migrated to it's current origin- the Zuni Pueblo. Signed Paloma 12/2020 Zuni, N.M.
