Botanical Iris #2

My second botanical Iris painting. I am really enjoying painting in the botanical style of watercolor. I wanted to paint something very dark and dusky, away from my usual style of lights and glowing colors.

My Iris garden is getting bigger every year and I find that I really get to watch each day as the Iris start to change and then slowly wither. I love painting in watercolors. I love the way the colors glow through each layer and fill with light, like stained glass.

All my watercolor paintings are painted on Arches 300# cold-pressed, bright white watercolor paper. Arches paper is archival and acid-free. I use M. Graham and Winsor and Newton's professional watercolor paints. My colors are permanent and archival and will not fade or change color! I will never paint with fugitive colors no matter how beautiful or vibrant they are. It is important to me that my paintings will last a lifetime and beyond with the proper care and attention.
