But The Dream Lives is the result of a little serendipity -- a happy accident. I was experimenting with a new way to cast a face in metal and was using resin bonded sand (chemically self-hardening sand) on a plaster bust and it stuck. I was trying to circumvent the lost wax process. Well the sand would not release the plaster head and I thought I had lost it all. After pondering the situation I decided to hit the mold with a sledge hammer to break it and try to at least recover some shards. I gave it a good hard whack with a heavy hammer and it all broke into pieces. As I picked out the plaster chunks this was left.

This is a much stronger statement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. than anything I could have dreamed up in my normal mode of operating. He may have passed but his dream still lives.

This piece is cast in aluminum and could be used to reproduce one in bronze if someone wanted it in that metal before this one is sold. This is currently the only piece. There is no edition.
